Bahrain participates in Third Global Climate and SDG Synergy Conference

Co-convened by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and hosted by the Japanese Ministry of Environment, the 3rd Global Conference on Climate and Sustainable Development Goals Synergy was held under the chairmanship of Japan’s Minister of Environment, Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi.

In his speech at the conference, Dr. Bin Dina stressed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom of Bahrain has dedicated its activities to national strategies to embody the principle of achieving sustainable development goals, and to put The sustainability criterion is among its priorities in the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, which aims to promote sustainable development.

He stressed the importance of the Kingdom’s announcement of reaching net zero by 2060 in this regard, praising the role played by the United Nations Environment Program and Japan in mobilizing international efforts to support facing the effects of climate change.

The minister stressed the keenness of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the personal representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment, to devote national efforts to achieving sustainable development goals through the implementation of many projects, programmes, activities and environmental studies.

In this context, he pointed out that the Kingdom has prepared the necessary studies to assess the impact of sea level rise on coastal areas, and has developed a long-term plan commensurate with the challenges and nature of priority areas. To be protected, contribute to the protection of desalination plants and energy to maintain energy and water security in Bahrain.

It should be noted that the 3rd Global Synergy Conference on Climate and the Sustainable Development Goals brings together 30 leading figures and more than 2,000 ministers and high-level officials, as well as 100 speakers from various participating countries.
