Bahrain participates in IPU 143rd Assembly

Manama, November 24 (BNA) The Bahraini parliamentary delegation headed by Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal will participate in the 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and related meetings in Madrid on 25-30 November.

All the legislative bodies of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, including the Board of Directors, the Standing Committees and the Committees for Parliamentarians’ Human Rights and Middle East Affairs, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young Representatives will meet during this Assembly.

The general debate will provide a platform for delegates to deliberate, exchange views and seek to stimulate parliamentary action in support and promotion of democracy worldwide.

The Assembly will take decisions on the emergency clause and on the topic addressed by the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights entitled Legislation worldwide to combat online sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

It is expected to conclude with the adoption of a final document on the general topic of general discussion.
