Bahrain participates in 18th CIFG meeting

Riyadh, June 7 (BNA): A Bahraini delegation headed by Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal, Head of Strategic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 18th meeting of the International Coalition Against ISIS Financial Group (CIFG).

Specialists and experts in combating the financing of terrorism and money laundering participated in the meeting, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In his speech to the meeting, Minister Jamal indicated that these cross-border crimes now pose a threat to the whole world, in light of technical developments and the opening of ports as a result of the accelerated pace of platform development.

She renewed the Kingdom’s firm position in rejecting all forms of terrorism, whatever its causes and motives, stressing Bahrain’s commitment to its foreign policy calling for spreading a culture of security, peace and peaceful coexistence, and to its international and regional agreements. Treaties to eliminate these dangers.

She stressed that Bahrain gives priority to establishing an infrastructure capable of preventing and addressing crimes related to terrorism and its financing at the national level and in cooperation with regional and international partners.

She said that this includes training national cadres and preparing an integrated security, political and legal system to maintain the security of the Kingdom and the region as a whole, praising the role of partnership based on common goals, and the efforts made to inform. Experts and those interested in the ever-changing issues and trends of terrorist financiers, such as the expansion of ISIS’s use of virtual currencies in Asia and tracking the map of ISIS’s influence in Africa to understand the emerging trends of terrorist threats and maintain the security and stability of the international community.
