Bahrain participates in 11th World Urban Forum

Warsaw, June 27 (BNA) Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, participated in the eleventh session of the World Urban Forum (WUF11), which was held in Katowice, Poland, under the auspices of the United Nations Human Authority. The minister stressed that the Kingdom’s participation in the eleventh World Urban Forum aims to highlight the government’s efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to implement development goals, in addition to its priorities related to sustainable civilization. Minister Al Mubarak praised the continuous fruitful cooperation between Bahrain and UN-Habitat, which led to important results in the areas of urban development and urban development.

He stressed that the Kingdom attaches great importance to sustainable development, as it is one of the most important pillars of comprehensive development, stressing Bahrain’s commitment to the urban development agenda, as the best way to achieve sustainable development goals and Bahrain’s 2030 economic vision.

He recalled that the World Urban Forum was the first global conference on sustainable urbanization. It is held every two years to examine pressing issues facing the world today, such as rapid urbanization and its impact on societies, cities, economies, climate change and policies.

The 11th World Urban Forum themed “Transforming Our Cities for a Better Urban Future” had more than 10,000 participants, including policy makers, mayors, academics, entrepreneurs, community leaders and urban planners.
