Bahrain heritage comes alive as school celebrates National Days

Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): Bahrain School celebrated national holidays with a focus on Bahraini traditions and celebrations inspired by local arts and falconry.

Guest speaker Nadia Al Jar, a Bahraini artist, used a PowerPoint presentation to highlight Bahrain’s history, diverse communities, social harmony, peaceful coexistence, and mutual acceptance.

Nadia linked the past to the present through the use of a large number of images on a large screen set up on this occasion, and explained the importance of pearl hunting and the various traditions in the Bahraini cultural heritage and the position of the modern kingdom in various sectors.

The students also interacted with a feathered guest, a falcon, where methods of handling it were explained while they learned about the hunting and sporting traditions long embraced in Bahrain and the region.

The students were in a festive atmosphere as they were dressed in Bahraini clothes, waving flags and listening to traditional songs.

Nadia’s student-centered approach to highlighting Bahrain’s national days was appreciated by the students and commended by the school staff, visiting Superintendent Dr. Geoff Arrington and Community Supervisor Ms. Stephanie Al-Sayed.

“It was a happy occasion for the students and a new opportunity for the school as we once again highlighted diversity as a virtue and strength,” said Shana Searight, Principal of Middle High School.

“Celebrating Bahrain’s national holidays is a tribute to the great harmony that exists in the school and in Bahrain. The students were able to gain new insights into the country’s heritage, traditions and aspirations. We are grateful for the support of the school administration, and the role of our guests Nadia and Hamas,” said Amal Maarouf, an Arabic language teacher who coordinated and organized the events. Students who remain the focus of our attention and care.”
