Bahrain, GGGI discuss cooperation in adapting to climate change effects

Manama, Jan. 22 (BNA): The Minister of Oil and Environment received the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Dinah, Deputy Director General and Head of the Green Growth Planning and Implementation Division at the Global Green Growth Institute. (GGGI), Helena MacLeod.

The minister discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of green growth and adaptation to the effects of climate change.

Dr. Bin Dinah praised the level of continuous cooperation and partnership between the Kingdom and the GGGI with regard to environmental matters, stressing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to enhance its cooperation with relevant international organizations and institutes in the fields of environment and climate to achieve sustainable development goals.

The meeting reviewed cooperation through the National Adaptation Investment Plan (NAIP), which is being prepared between the Kingdom and the GGGI.

The delegation was briefed on the action plan of the National Authority for Adaptation with Climate Change and the various programs and projects that have been implemented to enhance Bahrain’s efforts to adapt to the effects of climate change.

They also praised the achievements of the joint programs implemented by the two sides to embody international cooperation to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
