Bahrain Gender Balance Report outlined

Manama, November 24 (BNA) The Supreme Council for Women opened the national forum to discuss Bahrain’s second report on gender balance.

The event was attended by Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women Hala Al Ansari.

The meeting was also attended by officials from the public sector and representatives from the private sector and civil society, as well as representatives from the Saudi Center for Gender Balance, the Gulf Statistics Center, the United Nations Women, the ESCWA Women’s Committee, and experts from the World Bank.

The two-day forum aims to discuss the results of the national report on gender balance at the institutional level and in the main areas affecting national development, the results of which witnessed remarkable progress compared to the first report issued two years ago.

The participants in the forum were briefed on the most important initiatives and best practices monitored by the report, which contributed to the development of indicators of gender balance at the national level, in addition to the desired improvement opportunities in various development fields.

The forum sessions also dealt with proposals that would contribute to improving the outputs of the national report.

The focus was on ways to adopt recommendations, implementation procedures, priorities for action, or methodologies for developing some indicators to provide more objective readings of the reality of gender balance.

The Minister of Finance and National Economy, Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, addressed the session, praising the women’s steps in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. .

He praised Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, for her pivotal role in enhancing the status of women.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, Hala Al-Ansari, praised the efforts of the government headed by His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister to support the national gender balance model.
