Bahrain extends relief aid to quake-hit people in Afghanistan

Manama, July 16 (BNA) His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ordered urgent humanitarian aid to be sent to those affected in Afghanistan.

His Majesty the King directed the Royal Humanitarian Foundation headed by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for humanitarian work and youth affairs, to supervise the relief campaign.

Based on royal directives, the foundation signed an agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to support efforts to provide relief aid to earthquake-stricken Afghanistan.

Under the agreement, a delegation from the Reproductive Health Foundation will visit the earthquake-stricken areas in Afghanistan and distribute relief aid to the people.

His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to His Majesty the King, Honorary President of Hamad Medical Corporation, praising the royal humanitarian initiatives to support the afflicted and needy around the world.

He commended the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for its unwavering support to the Foundation.

He stressed Bahrain’s coordination with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the United Nations to support the stricken Afghan people, noting that the Foundation will provide urgent relief and medical assistance.
