Dammam, January 18 (BNA): Bahrain made a strong start today in the 20th Asian Men’s Handball Championship, which will be held in Dammam in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The national team beat Vietnam 46-31 in the first group match of the Asian Championship, the IHF Men’s Handball 2023 World Cup Qualifiers in Poland and Sweden.
Led by Icelandic coach Aaron Kristjanjon, the national team outperformed Vietnam, taking a 28-5 lead in the first half. Bahrain and Vietnam appeared in Group B along with Uzbekistan and Hong Kong. The Uzbek team defeated Hong Kong.
Bahrain will play Uzbekistan today, Wednesday, at four o’clock in the afternoon at the Ministry of Sports Stadium in Dammam, hoping to achieve its second victory in a row, and book a place for it in the second round.
