Bahrain calls for peaceful settlement in Sudan

Manama, May 1 (BNA): Minister of Social Development, Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s solidarity with Sudan, which is facing a difficult situation.

He renewed the Kingdom’s call to reduce the intensity of escalation and seek a peaceful settlement between all parties to avoid the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Sudan.

He expressed Bahrain’s support for international efforts to provide all social and humanitarian assistance that would contribute to improving conditions in the country and help end the crisis.

This came in a speech he delivered remotely before the extraordinary session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, which was convened by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to discuss the humanitarian and social conditions in Sudan.

The session focused on the humanitarian and social conditions in Sudan as a result of the armed clashes, which left heavy losses and affected social and health conditions, especially the elderly, people with disabilities and children.

The Council decided to assign the General Secretariat to take the necessary measures to mitigate the humanitarian and social effects resulting from the armed clashes, and to purchase social and humanitarian support materials and work to deliver them to those affected, in coordination with the concerned Arab and international bodies. .

It also decided to support concerted international efforts between the League of Arab States and the Sudanese state to provide health, medicine, food and social care support for civilians in areas of clashes and for displaced Sudanese in various states.

The Council instructed the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs to submit a report on the subject to the 43rd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs.
