Manama, September 23 (BNA) The Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, attended the celebrations of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam. The celebrations, which began on September 21, will continue until Friday in Ufa, the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan and its largest city in Russia.
The Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution met with President of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radhi Khabirov and conveyed to him the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and his wishes for Bashkortostan and Russia further development, progress and prosperity.
President Radhi Khabirov also expressed his greetings to His Majesty the King, praising the aspirations of the Kingdom of Bahrain in strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in all fields.
He welcomed the participation of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the (Supreme Investment Council) Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa in the celebrations of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan.
The President of the Council participated in the 14th International Conference, which was held in conjunction with this anniversary, under the slogan (Unity of the Source of Messages Against Extremism and Terrorism for Peace and Cooperation on Righteousness and Piety – Dialogue and Cooperation).
Speaking about the event, he indicated that Bahrain had embraced Islam 14 centuries ago, that is, in the eighth Hijri year corresponding to 630 CE.
He said: “The arrival of Islam to your country and its voluntary and religious entry 11 centuries ago undoubtedly confirm the heritage of peace, coexistence and openness experienced by our two friendly countries.”
He praised the leading role of Islamic peoples and major Islamic institutions around the world in confronting campaigns that spread atheism and moral decay that threaten families, societies and values.
Yesterday, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Islamic Culture participated in the inauguration of the new building of the Russian Islamic University of the Central Religious Authority of Muslims of Russia.
He also met, on Wednesday, with His Eminence Sheikh Al-Islam Talaat Safa Taj Al-Din, the Grand Mufti and Head of the Central Religious Authority for Muslims of Russia.
The two sides discussed the good friendly relations between the two friendly countries and their peoples, and ways to develop joint cooperation between the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Bahrain and the Central Religious Administration of Russian Muslims to serve common issues.
