Manama, April 17 (BNA): On the occasion of the World Antiquities and Sites Day, which falls on April 18, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities affirmed the continuation of efforts to enhance the status of archaeological sites in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She noted the keenness to promote their history and its importance locally and regionally by attracting the public to them through innovative programmes. It also referred to the role of the local community in preserving and preserving it.
World Monuments and Sites Day 2023, celebrated under the theme “Heritage Changes”, aims to shed light on the changing nature of heritage sites and the need for innovative approaches to their management and preservation. The event also underscores the importance of recognizing the contributions of the diverse communities surrounding the sites and the need to take their views into account in the decision-making process.
In this context, the President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, said that the celebration of cultural sites in Bahrain is not only limited to focusing on the historical, aesthetic and cultural values that they bear, but rather it should be an opportunity to highlight the challenges. and the threats they face. He explained that the authority is working on developing a strategy to sustain and preserve these sites for future generations.
He added that it is important for everyone in Bahrain to work together to protect these sites and ensure their survival as a source of cultural and historical pride for Bahrain and the world.
