United Arab Emirates University invites applicants to fill the rank of Faculty Member: Assistant Professor position in the Department of Media and Creative Industries. Published position for a full-time faculty member in media and multimedia production. The primary teaching role includes courses in television production, digital and multimedia production, writing for broadcast, as well as other theoretical media courses offered in the department.
Candidates are expected to be instrumental in utilizing the department’s facilities in teaching and training that includes production activities, to raise students’ levels of competence and competence to industry standards.
The faculty will also conduct appropriate scholarships and research leading to full participation in the academic life of the University and the academic community as a whole. The faculty member will, as part of a collaborative and collegiate campus community, advise students at the undergraduate and graduate level, perform college service and pursue an applied and/or practice research agenda, a demonstrable research ability that will enable the candidate to develop and maintain an internally funded research program and or externally in his field of expertise, publish his research in refereed journals, and actively participate in the promotion of the College as well as the Department of Media and Creative Industries.
Minimum qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. In the field of media.
Ability to teach undergraduate courses in practical/studio courses is a must.
Applicants must have industry and professional experience in offline/online multimedia production, newsroom, and editorial experience.
The successful applicant will also have a record of refereed publications and an ongoing research agenda, or evidence of noteworthy scientific promise in the case of younger scientists. He or she will also demonstrate a commitment to a student-centered approach to teaching.
Preferred qualification
Professional industry experience in multimedia/digital production.
