Faithful + Gould is looking to expand its team in the UAE. The successful candidate will assist senior management in leading a team of cost managers in the delivery of various pre- and post-contract mixed-use developments.

responsibilities

Provide a hands-on service as part of the broader cost management team
Advise clients on all costs and commercial matters related to our appointments
Accountability for the financial performance of the project
Contribute to industry reports
– Customer and stakeholder management
– Preparing executive reports
– Internal Governance Department
– Staff guidance
– Employment assistance
Training and development of team members, including executive management responsibilities
Managing and assisting technical service delivery teams
Maintain revenue, raise invoicing, manage key accounts, and project forecasts
– Reporting on project performance to senior management

Essential criteria/characteristics of a successful applicant;

At least 5 years of experience in the construction market in the Middle East is preferred
Minimum 10 years post-graduation experience is a must
– Excellent spoken and written English is essential
Spoken Arabic is preferred but not required
Consulting experience is preferable, but client experience is also considered if applicable to this role
In-depth knowledge and experience in cost and commercial management of projects in both pre- and post-contract phases must be clearly demonstrated
Extensive contract and business experience
Very strong technical understanding of construction is essential including practical application
Demonstrable experience of successfully managing and delivering projects in all key market segments is essential, such as commercial, retail, hospitality and leisure, residential, and mixed uses. Prefer other market segments
Proven track record of working with top developers in the Middle East with appropriate references
Experience working on “megaprojects”/projects of high level of complexity required
– Proven track record of negotiation skills with third parties
– Proven track record of co-earning work from previous jobs
Industry connections that can be demonstrated through customer relationships are essential
– Proven track record of pioneering major developments in the region
Understanding and opinion of the Middle East economy / outlook
Must demonstrate understanding of internal financial management and project financial controls
Attention to detail and a hands-on approach to management and service delivery is essential
Managing and working in small and large teams is essential
A team player willing to participate in all aspects of service delivery as well as management
– Proven track record in employee development and mentoring through career and professional accreditation
– Excellent communication and presentation skills
Full knowledge and understanding of industry best practices
Full understanding of QA/QC and its practical application
Good understanding of cost management tools including CostX
Knowledge of UAE Contract Law
Knowing the FIDIC Contract Forms

qualifications

– Certificate in Quantity Surveying from a recognized university (minimum expected qualification of upper second)
The degree in a subject other than quantity surveying must be supported by a master’s degree in quantity surveying
– MRICS qualification
– Master’s (Optional)
Other qualifications may be preferred if applicable to the role
