Adelaide, Jan. 1 (BNA): Canada’s Bianca Andreescu defeated Spain’s Garbine Muguruza 0-6, 7-6(3), 6-1 in their Grand Slam match Sunday in the first round of the Adelaide International. .

Andreescu, the 2019 US Open champion, trailed 0-6, 2-5 before scoring an impressive comeback to defeat two-time champion Muguruza in 2 hours 12 minutes. Andreescu improved her head-to-head record against former top seed Muguruza to 3-0.

Top-ranked Novak Djokovic is expected to play his first-round singles match against France’s Constant Lestienne on Monday, reports the Associated Press.
