Washington, Oct. 18 (BNA): Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing division of Amazon.com, said Monday that it plans to invest $5 billion in Thailand over the next 15 years to boost its infrastructure in the country.
AWS said in a statement that the investment will include building data centers and purchasing goods and services from regional companies.
It also plans to set up an infrastructure hub in Bangkok, Thailand, to help customers in the region securely store data and better serve end users, Reuters reported.
“AWS plan to build data centers in Thailand is an important milestone that will provide advanced cloud computing services to more organizations and help us realize Thailand 4.0 ambition to create a value-based digital economy,” said Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Subatanapong Punmechau. .
The AWS cloud platform offers more than 200 services, including storage, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
Last month, AWS opened its first cloud data center in the United Arab Emirates and announced plans to establish a local hub in Mexico to boost customer bandwidth.
Since 2020, AWS has launched 10 high-end Amazon Cloud Interface locations in Bangkok. Terminal sites help deliver data, videos, and applications at faster speeds to end users.
