Manama, November 3 (BNA) The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, received at his residence His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople.
Dr. Al-Tayeb praised the role of religious leaders in promoting interfaith dialogue, stressing support for efforts aimed at achieving world peace and tolerance among people.
He pointed out that Al-Azhar’s participation in conferences that gather representatives of religions stems from the belief that religion supports people’s steadfastness amid crises and challenges. The Archbishop of Constantinople praised the efforts of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in spreading a culture of peace, human brotherhood and coexistence with His Holiness Pope Francis.
