Zaha completes Palace comeback in 2-1 win over Wolves

London, October 19 (BNA): Wilfried Zaha completed Crystal Palace’s recovery by scoring his fifth goal of the season to secure a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton in the Premier League.

After a rare goal from Adama Traore in the 31st minute, Palace equalized one minute into the second half through an Ibri Izzi header before Zaha scored the winning goal in the 70th minute, the Associated Press reported.

It was the second consecutive home win for Palace – after beating Leeds 2-1 – to lift the team to 10th place, with Wolves without a coach remaining just a point and a place above the drop zone.

After Palace came close in the fourth minute when Chic Doucuri’s long-range shot hit the post, Wolves took the lead after Hugo Bueno – on his debut – put in a fine cross for an unmarked Traore. The winger nodded to the bottom right corner to score only his second league goal since May 2021.

A delay ensued after Joel Ward and Daniel Bowden crashed through the air and medical staff attended the wolf ward. It was considered fit to move on, as the incident earned the palace commander a reservation in the process.

Zaha had a chance to level the frustrated home team before the break but squandered his effort and Palace got a minor reprieve when a Robin Neves free kick bounced in stoppage time off the right post.

The hosts responded within two minutes of reclaiming the pitch when Michael Ulis sent a cross to the back post to set up Eazy, who scored the equalizer for his second goal of the season.

Odsonne Edouard’s kick sailed the bike off the right post before striker Zaha put him in the middle of the box. The Ivory Coast striker produced a quiet finishing touch in the lower left corner.
