World football’s lawmakers to discuss changes to offside law

Zurich, Feb 5 (BUS): Lawmakers in world football will discuss changes to the offside law at their annual meeting next month.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, head of global football development at FIFA, has suggested that a striker be judged if any part of his body is equal with the defender from second to last, according to the Associated Press.

The annual general meeting of the IFAB will take place around 3 March, and an update on the use of semi-automated offside technology will also be heard.

Wenger is also championing FIFA’s new talent development plan announced on Friday to help member associations find and train future stars, and raise playing standards to ensure their teams are more competitive globally.
