Manama, June 5 (BNA): Work on the sanitation project in Block 733 in the Capital Governorate is progressing as planned.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Sanitary Projects, Fathi Abdullah Al-Farea, inspected the project as part of the strategy to expand sewage networks throughout the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Tender Board had awarded the urban infrastructure project to Al Nassif Construction Company under a contract worth 260,000 Bahraini dinars.

Al-Farea stressed the importance of maximizing the use of treated water by expanding pumping, transportation and distribution services.

He affirmed the ministry’s continued efforts to benefit from triple-treated sewage water to irrigate crops in streets and parks, in addition to supplying farms with treated water.

He pointed out that “the ministry has taken important steps to benefit from wastewater treatment,” stressing the importance of creating a balance between available water and future demand, in line with the goals of Bahrain’s economic vision 2023.

He pointed out that the ministry applies all accreditation requirements for physical, chemical and microbiological tests on treated water and updates the quality system guide.

He stressed plans to expand the use of treated water in irrigation works by connecting a number of areas, streets and farms to the network in support of the national plan for afforestation and doubling the number of trees in the Kingdom of Bahrain by 2035.

Bahrain is intensifying its efforts to expand green areas to achieve sustainability and optimal use of treated water, as part of the government’s plans to achieve the goals of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) to double the number of trees by 2035.
