Women’s FA Cup prize fund jumps to three million pounds from 2022-23

London, March 15 (BNA) – The FA Women’s FA Cup prize fund will increase to three million pounds ($3.92 million) from next season, the Football Association said.

The Football Association did not specify how the new amount would be allocated but said that a disproportionate part of it would be invested in the first rounds of the competition, according to Reuters reports.

“It will benefit many clubs across the women’s football pyramid,” Sue Campbell, the FA’s director of women’s football, said in a statement.

“This increased investment highlights that we want to reward the clubs competing in it, while underlining our continued commitment to the women’s game.

“Women’s football is still in its growth phase and we are always looking to make improvements and investments to push it forward and break new frontiers.”

The current prize money for winning the FA Women’s Cup is 25 thousand pounds, and 15 thousand pounds goes to second place.

In the men’s competitions, the winner and runner-up receive 1.8 million pounds and 900,000 pounds, respectively.

The federation’s decision follows UEFA’s move to double this year’s European Women’s Championship prize fund in England to 16 million euros ($17.56 million) while increasing guaranteed payments to the 16 eligible teams.
