Warriors open title defense by beating Lakers

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 19 (US): Stephen Curry opened the season with 33 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and the Golden State Warriors beat LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers 123-109 on Tuesday night after earning the championship rings in a pre-game gala.

Jordan Pool made a beautiful rebound pass to the Draymond Green driver for a corner kick and all seemed perfectly fine with the defending champions almost two weeks after punching the Green Pool in training on October 5, then taking a short break from the team to work on his emotions. The Associated Press reported that Paul finished with 12 points and seven assists.

James scored 31 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists while Russell Westbrook scored 19 points and scored 11 rebounds after suffering a sore left hamstring. Anthony Davis added 27 points, but the Lakers couldn’t keep up with another signing, runaway third quarter by possession of NBA Finals MVP Curry and Co.

Klay Thompson contributed 18 points in 20 minutes for the Warriors, who celebrated their fourth franchise title in eight years.
