Volvo Cars to set up tech hub in Stockholm

Stockholm, March 11 (BNA) Volvo Cars (VOLCARb.ST) plans to set up a technical center in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, said on Friday that it is seeking to reach its goal of selling at least half of its cars online.

The Gothenburg-based automaker said more than 700 employees, with skills in areas such as software engineering, data science and analytics, will be located at the new centre, Reuters reported.

“The expansion will support Volvo Cars’ strong growth, as well as its mid-decade ambitions to sell at least half of all its cars online and to develop at least half of all software within the company,” it said in a statement.

Volvo, majority-owned by China’s Geely Holdings Inc. (GEELY.UL), aims to have 50% of its sales be pure electric cars by the middle of this decade.
