Vietnam holds first international arms expo in Hanoi

Hanoi, Dec. 8 (BNA): Vietnam opened its first large-scale international defense exhibition, as the Southeast Asian country seeks to diversify its arms sourcing and equipment export.

Reuters reported that the three-day event, which was held at an airport in the capital Hanoi, attracted 174 exhibitors from 30 countries, including the United States, Russia and European countries.

Opening the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin said the exhibition will help “diversify sources of procurement of defense equipment for the purpose of protecting the nation and people amid increasing traditional and non-traditional challenges.”

“Vietnam’s defense policy is peace and self-defense,” Dinh said.
