US Congress delegation visits LMRA’s Protection and Grievances Centre

Manama, May 27 (BNA): The Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) received a delegation of US Congress employees, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Protection and Grievances Center of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain to develop a stable work environment that preserves the rights of all parties.

LMRA officials highlighted the main projects and initiatives of the authority, including the recently launched Employment Registration Program, which aims to register workers in partnership with the private sector, as well as the optional insurance system for domestic workers and the Wage Protection System.

They also highlighted the main objectives and roles of the Protection and Grievances Centre, which is the first comprehensive and specialized facility of its kind in the Middle East region providing legal advice and services, as well as shelter for victims and potential victims of crimes. The delegation was also briefed on the role of the Regional Center of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combating Trafficking in Persons in providing a solid base of regionally recognized trainers in the field of combating human trafficking.
