US Congress delegation visits LMRA, reviews CTIP System


Manama, March 24 (BNA) A delegation from the Senate and the House of Representatives praised the Kingdom of Bahrain’s interest in regularly reviewing and updating its legislative and legal frameworks to ensure compliance with global requirements, and other legal, humanitarian and social considerations, with the aim of providing the required protection that safeguards the rights of all productive parties.


During a visit to the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), the US delegation praised Bahrain’s efforts in the areas of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Program (CTIP) and commended the Labor Market Regulatory Authority’s keenness to develop CTIP monitoring and follow-up processes.


The delegation was received by the CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority Jamal Abdul Aziz Al-Alawi and senior officials.


During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the role of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority in creating a safe environment for employees and employers.


The delegation was also informed of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority’s commitment to strengthening CTIP efforts and providing appropriate legal and procedural frameworks aimed at protecting workers from any form or type of abuse in normal or exceptional circumstances.


The Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) highlighted the projects and initiatives it has adopted as part of its efforts to protect workers’ rights, including the Wage Protection System (WPS), the Voluntary Insurance Scheme for Expatriate Domestic Workers, and other key projects.
