UPEACE grants Honorary Doctorate to Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa

Geneva, October 1 / BNA / The University of Peace (UPEACE) awarded an honorary doctorate to the Secretary-General and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, Sheikha Dr. Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa. The ceremony, which was held at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, the former Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, the President of the University Dr. Francisco Rojas and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

This honor confirms the key role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in promoting peace at the regional and international levels, as this doctorate is awarded to influential scholars and specialists in the political and diplomatic fields in relation to the promotion of peace.

Sheikha Dr. Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa is the first Arab woman to receive an honorary doctorate and the second Arab personality after the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Karim Al-Issa from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This honor is an international recognition of the positive impact and active efforts of Sheikha Dr. Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa in supporting international diplomacy, strengthening friendship and cooperation among peoples and fighting hatred.
