Umm Al Hassam Walkway shaded in Forever Green campaign with support from SGS Bahrain


Manama, April 7 (BNA): The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Supreme Council for the Environment, planted trees along the Umm Al-Hassam walkway in Manama. With the generous support of SGS Bahrain, and the participation of students from Al-Hikma International School.


The ceremony was attended by Roy Scaria, General Manager of SGS Bahrain, Secretary General of Al Nayed Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, and Project Manager Yousef Buheji.


The planting of 23 Hibiscus trees and 22 Neem trees has catered to the needs of the young and old who will benefit from the shades created.


The initiative was part of the Forever Green campaign to expand green spaces in Bahrain and contribute to the fight against climate change.


The ambitious campaign, launched by Nyad, has received generous support from the private sector in evidence of the strong partnership between all components of Bahraini society.


The campaign is implemented under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Advisory Council Nyad.


The rapid response from SGS Bahrain to shade the Umm Al Hassam corridor reflects a high sense of community and great environmental awareness.


Al-Hikma School was keen to engage students in the Forever Green campaign and to promote the values ​​of citizenship by urging students to plant trees and protect the environment, creating a conscious generation that strives to achieve the Kingdom’s environmental goals.

During the event, Hikma students reviewed the COCOON project, which aims to improve the environment in line with the sustainable development goals and Bahrain’s economic vision.
