Two dead, 18 injured in gas explosion at restaurant in Mexico

MEXICO CITY, March 15 (BNA) An explosion caused by a gas leak killed two people and injured 18 others today, Monday, at a restaurant in a seaside tourist town in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, local authorities said.

The two victims were restaurant employees in the popular holiday area Playa del Carmen, according to a statement shared by Quintana Roo’s attorney general on Twitter.

The statement said that eight of the 18 people who were taken to hospitals after the blast have already been discharged. Local authorities said 15 of the injured were restaurant employees.
