Türkiye intercity bus crash kills 8, injures dozens

Istanbul, Feb. 5 (BNA): Eight people were killed and about 35 injured, including four in critical condition, after an intercity bus overturned on a highway in the Afyonkarahisar region of western Turkey, Governor Kubra Goran Yigitbasi told state media.

Reuters reported that the passenger bus was on a cross-country route from Diyarbakir in the east to the western resort of Bodrum.

Yigitbasi was quoted by TRT as saying that the driver lost control of the steering wheel in the hilly area. It did not give more details.

“I pray to God to have mercy on our citizens who lost their lives in the tragic bus accident in the Dinar district of Afyonkarahisar,” Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu wrote on his Twitter account.

“My condolences to their families, and a speedy recovery to our injured.”
