Manama, October 28 (BNA) The Turkish community in Bahrain celebrated the 99th anniversary of the Republic Day, amidst confidence in relations with Bahrain, a supportive investment environment, and a renewed commitment to enhancing cooperation opportunities.
Turkish Ambassador to Bahrain Esin Çakil said that about 1,600 Turks live in Bahrain, most of whom are businessmen, academics, bankers, doctors, barbers and restaurants.
“I am happy that they are well educated and most of them speak Arabic fluently. They deal with the local community in an exemplary way,” she said.
This evening, Thursday, the Turkish embassy held a reception on the occasion of the national anniversary of “Cumhuriyet Permi”, which was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
Ambassador Esen Çakıl, the third Turkish woman to hold the position in Bahrain after Hilal Pascal and Hatton Demirer, said 62,730 Bahraini nationals visited Turkey in 2021.
“In the first eight months of 2022, more than 70,000 Bahraini citizens visited Turkey, an increase of 163%, compared to the same period last year.”
She added that at the same time, Turkish businessmen organizations became more and more interested in Bahrain and began to discover the supportive investment environment in the Kingdom.
“Having the seventh meeting of the Joint Economic Committee last March, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain and His Excellency Noureddin Al Nabati, Minister of Treasury and Finance of Turkey, was a great opportunity to bring together our businessmen. We believe in the importance of face-to-face meetings.
“With this perspective, we will continue to bring our businessmen together as we have done so far. Turkish construction companies are carefully following developments in the country’s construction sector. Turkey is very successful in the construction sector and we are proud of our contractors who have succeeded in delivering on their promises in a timely manner, sharing in the Kingdom’s vision.” 2030.
