Tunisia imposes COVID-19 vaccine pass on Tunisians, all foreign visitors

Tunis, October 23 (BNA) Tunisia imposed a presidential decree on Friday on Tunisians and all foreign visitors for the new coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine.

Officials, employees and users are required to show a card proving vaccination against the coronavirus to access public and private administrations, according to the decree. Reuters reported that the permit will also be required to enter cafes, restaurants, hotels and tourist establishments.

The decree indicated that the jobs of employees who did not receive vaccination in the public and private sectors will be suspended until the vaccination permit is submitted.

The vaccination permit will also be a necessary document for travel abroad. The decree states that the authorities must grant a pass to each person who has received the vaccination. It will also be given to foreign visitors who present a certificate of vaccination upon arrival.

The Tunisian Ministry of Health said that more than 4.2 million Tunisians out of 11.6 million residents have completed their vaccination against the Corona virus.

Tunisia last month lifted the night-time curfew entirely, nearly a year after it was introduced, as the outbreak of the virus subsided.
