TRA holds Open Forum on its work plan

Manama, May 22 (BNA) The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority today held an open forum to provide stakeholders with a platform to exchange ideas on the authority’s draft work plan for the period 2022-2023.

The draft action plan was published on April 24, and it includes the authority’s work streams with the aim of achieving the goals based on four main axes. Specifically, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority aims to meet the government policy outlined in the Fifth National Telecommunications Plan, to ensure network security and resiliency, to provide reliable broadband service to all, and to ensure consumer empowerment and protection.

Representatives from the telecommunications industry, from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as well as consumer advocacy organizations were among the attendees.

The Director General of the authority, Philip Marnick, commented on the event, saying: “We were delighted that so many attended the first open forum of the authority. It provided stakeholders, especially consumers, an opportunity to share their ideas and help shape our work. Ultimately, the work we do here is for the people of Bahrain. So talking to each other helps us better serve our community.”

Marnick added, “We expect to hold more open forums around drafts of future publications, so that we can stay connected and engage with all of our stakeholders.”
