Tottenham sells Steven Bergwijn to Ajax as squad is reshaped

London, July 8 (BNA): Tottenham sold Dutch winger Stephen Bergwijn to Ajax for 31.25 million euros ($32 million) on Friday, as the London club financed its off-season transformation under coach Antonio Conte.

The 24-year-old has scored just four Premier League goals in his two seasons since joining from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, although two goals last season were key to helping Tottenham qualify for the Champions League after two seasons absence.

Ajax, where Bergwijn played in the youth system, will also compete in the Champions League next season, according to the Associated Press.

Tottenham are close to making defender Clement Lenglet their fifth recruit of the summer on a season-long loan from Barcelona. Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bisoma and Richarlison have already completed their move to North London.
