Top-ranked Medvedev to play Hurkacz in Halle final

Berlin, June 18 (BNA): Top seed Daniil Medvedev beat Oscar Ooty 7-6 (3), 6-3 on Saturday to advance to the final of the Halle Open, a week after finishing second in the tournament. Hertogenbosch.

Ooty put up a 5-3 point in the first set but Medvedev broke the ball before forcing the tiebreak, according to the Associated Press.

Russian Hubert Hurkacz will play in the final on Sunday after the big-serving Polish beat Nick Kyrgios 4-6, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4).

Hurkacz’s semi-final win over Kyrgios was a festival of strength as he fired 27 aces to 30 for Kyrgios, who lost despite struggling in every one of his service matches.

Hurkac and Medvedev each won two of their four matches together, although Hurkac was the winner of their only meeting on grass in the fourth round of Wimbledon last year and also won the last match in Miami in March.
