Manama, May 22 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the weekly cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet highlighted the speech delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the 32nd Summit of the Arab League. In his speech, His Majesty the King called on the leaders of the Arab countries to attend the summit next year to be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Cabinet indicated that His Majesty the King’s speech reflects the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to support regional security and the continuation of stability and prosperity.
The Cabinet also congratulated the King, the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the success of the summit, which came as an extension of the Kingdom’s diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to maintain security, stability and regional unity.
The Cabinet welcomed the election of the Minister of Health as Chairman of Main Committee (a) by the World Health Assembly at its seventy-sixth session. The Cabinet expressed its appreciation for the confidence placed by the Kingdom of Bahrain in healthcare capabilities and its response to global health challenges.
The Cabinet also welcomed the fact that Bahrain International Airport received two sustainability awards: the Green Airports Recognition Award 2023 (for airports serving between 8 to 15 million passengers annually) and its upgrade to Level 4 ‘Transformation’ certificate from Airports Council International (ACI). And in celebration of the forty-second anniversary of the founding of the Cooperation Council, the Council of Ministers affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the efforts of the GCC countries in achieving the aspirations of their leaders and the aspirations of their people.
During the meeting, the Cabinet discussed several memorandums approving the following:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance regarding the contributions of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its membership in international organizations.
2- A memorandum by the Minister of Finance and National Economy and the Minister of Industry and Trade regarding the decision of the Permanent Committee of the Cooperation Council for Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade to continue imposing anti-dumping duties on many imports of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a memorandum of understanding between the National Center for Cybersecurity at the Ministry of Interior and Amazon. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in the field of cloud computing.
4. A memorandum of cooperation between the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of heritage tourism and the preservation of culture.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding 5 memorandums of understanding between the University of Bahrain and regional and international bodies.
6. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding two memorandums of understanding between Bahrain Polytechnic, Peking University and the Hikvision Research Institute in the fields of education and research.
7. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to 4 proposals submitted by the House of Representatives.
The Council also reviewed the memorandum of the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture regarding the farmers’ market.
Finally, the Cabinet referred to the following ministerial reports:
1 – The results of the meeting of the Economic and Social Council of the thirty-second regular session of the Arab summit at the ministerial level
2. Results of the 119th meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee
3 – The Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation in the 14th International Economic Forum “Russia and the Islamic World: Kazanforum” 2023.
4. The official visit of the Minister of Industry and Trade to Japan and the Republic of Korea.
