WSP Middle East is currently looking for a Technical Director with a background in civil design to provide technical leadership to ensure that the highest technical standards are maintained on PMC projects for tall buildings in NEOM, as a leading project management consultant.
Your new role, what does it involve
* Attend all project meetings
* Keep a daily log of project elements (staffing, activities, forms, site stakeholders and any other related issues)
* Provide coordination among all stakeholders
*Accept and distribute all hardcopy, RFI and Shop Drawing designs
* Ensure that consultants and/or contractor adhere to the quality control plan
* Check and record any unit price item quantities
* Provide review and comment on all project deliverables
* Provide technical assistance as required
* Responsible for providing technical expertise and supervising the technical aspects of the project
* Ensuring that project outcomes meet the required technical standards
* Provide input to client proposals including bid planning, cost estimating, proposal production and providing technical input
* Be responsible for the technical success of projects won or allocated to them
* Actively contribute to the continuous development of engineering excellence within the team and help create a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in your discipline
* Be responsible for ensuring that excellent technical standards are maintained in the design, documentation and supervision of project work
* Take responsibility for project and business technical standards while building strong personal relationships across project and business teams
Managing and directing technical opportunities, developing new ideas and striving to provide high quality standards and services that are increasingly efficient and effective
* Lead and develop technical capability by developing and delivering technical solutions
* Perform leadership in the design and project management and cost management of construction services projects
* Deliver projects to meet client needs and maintain strong financial control
* Provide leadership for technical and technical personnel on complex and large-scale projects
* Actively participates in industry, customer and community relationships to improve the company’s image in relation to structural design capabilities
We would love to hear from you if you have:
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with at least 15 years of industry experience managing and delivering large and/or complex building construction projects, to high standards and fast-track programs
* 10 years experience in PMC high-rise tower projects
* Charter/Professional Engineer or Equivalent Membership
*Knowledge and experience with plan and schedule analysis, communicating with stakeholders, supervising the work of consultants and contractors, managing construction contracts and compliance, problem management and conflict resolution, job site safety, change order review, field inspection, contractor requisition, project commissioning and closing
* Experience in monitoring the performance of technical standards
* Perform a supervisory role including checking time charges
* Ability to interpret project requirements and procedures
* Experience in leading and supervising a technical specialist on projects
Demonstrable experience conducting witness examinations, testing systems and making detailed reports
* Ability to coordinate multiple activities in a logical and orderly manner
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to interact effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and colleagues
* Ability to work in a disciplined manner with little supervision
* Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases)
* Tall Tower (ideally 300+m)
* Effective leadership and high commitment in order to achieve goals
*Must be familiar with contractual issues related to construction projects and have good working knowledge of the FIDIC Red Book.
