Tchouameni is Monaco’s latest young talent to catch the eye

Manama, November 18 (BNA) When Aurelien Chuamini made his debut for the France national team, the 21-year-old midfielder looked as if he had been playing at the international level for years.

An Associated Press report said the Monaco player had no nerves as he showed uncommon composure and control in midfield in Ukraine in September’s World Cup qualifiers.

After helping France qualify for next year’s World Cup, he is looking to boost Monaco as they try to rise from the middle of the table when he visits champions Lille on Friday.

Chuamini will be crucial to Monaco’s hopes of overcoming a slow start and advancing to the Champions League spots, just as he did last season when Monaco fell behind to finish third.

But it was his performances on the international stage that drew early comparisons to France’s previous midfield greats, such as World Cup and European Championship winner Patrick Vieira and Claude Makelele – Vieira’s teammate when France finished second in the 2006 World Cup Final.

Chuamini was brought to the spotlight so quickly and so brightly that Spanish sports daily Marca had his name on its front page two days in a row as Real Madrid’s next big signing.

The compliment came after he helped France win the Nations League by defeating Belgium and then Spain in the final, starting a crucial match in only his fifth international appearance and once again gaining attention.

However, the fact that France coach Didier Deschamps did not hesitate to pitch Chuameni in front of one of the world’s best midfielders shows his confidence in him.

Deschamps rarely waits for a talent test at the highest level, and when Chwamini received his initial call in August, he was swiftly welcomed by Paul Pogba, who made his international debut at the age of 20 and scored a goal for France in the 2018 World Cup final.
