Tamkeen holds its third board meeting of 2022

Manama, October 18 (BNA) The Labor Fund (Tamkeen) held its third board meeting to oversee the implementation of the strategic plan and the ongoing operations during the third quarter of 2022.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Directors, confirmed Tamkeen’s alignment with the vision and priorities set by the government in the Economic Recovery Plan and related national strategies, highlighting Tamkeen’s role alongside members of the Bahrain team. in achieving these plans.

He added: “We have set a set of main objectives that we are working to achieve during the current strategic cycle 2021-2025, including creating quality job opportunities by enhancing the digital skills of the national workforce, in line with Tamkeen’s efforts to support the digital transformation of enterprises, and encourage them to grow. By innovating in their business models, as well as enhancing their flexibility and agility leading to greater expansion potential.”

During the meeting, the Board of Directors reviewed the latest developments in programs and initiatives, which included a continuous increase in the number of new supported institutions, as the number reached double the target for 2022, which is 1,935 institutions. The updates also showed an increase in training support for Bahrainis to reach 75% of the target for the year with more than 7,400 trainers. Moreover, employment support for Bahrainis increased to 67% of the target for this year, supporting 6,668 jobs.

Commenting on this progress, Ms. Maha Moviz, Acting CEO of the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), highlighted how these indicators show the increased support for individuals and institutions according to this year’s plan and pave the way for achieving this year’s goals.

She added: “These results reflect our commitment to achieving our strategic goals and implementing the plans that have been developed to benefit from Tamkeen’s support for training and job opportunities for Bahrainis, support the growth and sustainability of institutions, and enhance their participation in creating more opportunities as a national talent.”

In addition, Tamkeen management also presented the recent achievements in terms of key performance indicators for this year that enabled Tamkeen to achieve a number of global awards and recognitions such as: The 14th Golden Bridge Business and Innovation Awards, Global Business Outlook 2022 Award for Women and Youth Support Initiatives, and Best Brand renewal by International Business Magazine, and Best Public Sector Brand Visual Identity by Global Brand Awards.

The third quarter also witnessed the launch of the updated version of Mashrou3i as part of the Young Entrepreneurs Program and a number of strategic partnerships aimed at supporting individuals and organizations such as: Training nearly 100 Bahrainis in developing iOS applications using rapid programming in partnership. With Bahrain Polytechnic, hosting the National Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) competition for Bahrain in partnership with the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) through its local branch, and the ongoing support of the two Cloud Innovation Centers at the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic in collaboration with AWS launched in 2019.

These initiatives follow the launch of 16 support programs earlier this year as part of Tamkeen’s enterprise-wide transformation plan that focuses on achieving greater impact on the national economy.
