Swiss skier Yule beats Ryding to win slalom in Kitzbuehel

Vienna, Jan. 22 (BNA): Daniel Jule cemented what he called his “love affair” with Kitzbuehel by winning the men’s world championship in snowboarding at the luxury Austrian ski resort for the second time on Sunday.

The Swiss slalom specialist was only ranked seventh after the opening run, but he clocked the third-fastest time in second, reports the Associated Press.

Yule then saw the top six fail to overcome a period lead on the icy Ganslern course, including pole leader Manuel Viller, who went over the gate and failed to finish on his home run.

Dave Riding, who triumphed last year to become the first British skier to win a World Cup race, set the fastest time in heat two and improved from 16th to second, 0.40 behind Juul.

Norwegian Lucas Brathen, the runner-up of Feller’s team in the first round, fell to third place, 0.41 behind the lead. Linus Strasser of Germany was 104th.
