Washington, DC, October 15 (BNA): The Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor Bint Ali Al-Khalif, participated in the eighth ministerial meeting of the Alliance of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, which was held here recently as part of the International Monetary Fund. World Bank Group 2022 Annual Meetings.
Minister Al-Khalif noted the commitments announced by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the COP26 summit held in Glasgow in November 2021, including achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. Bahrain’s commitment to support international initiatives to overcome on global environmental challenges, including the Helsinki Principles aimed at promoting climate action through the development of fiscal policies.
The Minister of Sustainable Development highlighted the important role that the launched economic recovery plan and the fiscal balance program play in creating a supportive environment for achieving set environmental goals. She noted the Kingdom’s ongoing initiatives, including the issuance of Law No. (7) of 2022 on the environment, which came into effect in September.
