Strategic WDO – IsDB partnership launched

Cairo, Dec. 17 (BNA): The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) through its regional center in Cairo today started the implementation of a comprehensive technical assistance (TA) project for the Women’s Development Organization (WDO).

The project is a component of the strategic partnership plan between WDO and the Islamic Development Bank that started one year ago.

The inaugural meeting discussed the technical and implementation plan for the upcoming project to be launched by 2022 for a period of 18 months.

The project will contribute to strengthening the institutional capacity of the Global Organization for Gender Equality during its inaugural phase in order to play its main role in advancing and enhancing the status of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the OIC Member States.

The project will also promote the development of a number of WDO strategic frameworks including its first four-year strategy (2022-2026) and its first two-year work plan (2022-2024). Four thematic products will also be developed through this project including a WDO flagship report.

The project is a manifestation of the long-term cooperation between the various entities in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) system.

It is also a good example for the implementation of various OIC resolutions that call on sister organizations and bodies within the OIC system to support each other and launch joint programs for the benefit of all people in the OIC countries.

The Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank is a multilateral development finance institution, established in 1957, that focuses on Islamic finance.

There are 57 contributing member states with Saudi Arabia being the largest single contributor.
