SsangYong to export 170,000 vehicles to Saudi firm by 2030

Seoul, September 29 (BNA): SsangYong Motor, a South Korean automaker focused on SUVs, will export about 170,000 vehicles to a Saudi company by 2030 in the form of semi-knockout units (KD).

In January, SsangYong Motor signed a Kuwaiti dinar supply deal with Saudi National Automobile Manufacturing Company (SNAM) for a seven-year period starting in 2023, Yonhap reported.

SsangYong will initially supply KD units to SNAM Factory for parts that will be assembled in the three SsangYong models — the new Rexton Sport, the new Rexton Sports Khan and the all-new Rexton SUVs, SsangYong said in a statement.

SNAM plans to start production of SsangYong models from 2023 and aims to produce up to 30,000 units annually based on plant expansion.

SsangYong plans to ship the KD units that will be assembled at the Saudi plant to 90,000 units of new Rexton Sport and new Rexton Sports Khan SUVs and 79,000 units of new Rexton SUVs in the seven years.
