Manama, December 29 (BNA) Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal held talks today with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco.

The talks focused on ways to enhance cooperation between Bahrain and the Inter-Parliamentary Union to contribute to achieving the founding goals of the union, by unifying international parliamentary efforts, and making them more effective in consolidating global security and peace, as well as achieving development goals for all peoples and peoples. Parliament Speaker Fawzia Zainal said during the meeting that the democratic and parliamentary process in the Kingdom enjoys the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, adding that His Majesty the King has laid solid foundations for solid democratic work, making popular partnership. , through the House of Representatives, an essential pillar of governance.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives praised the role played by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in supporting the efforts of parliaments around the world, praising its keenness to promote human rights and support the efforts of countries to achieve sustainable development goals.

She affirmed the permanent keenness of the House of Representatives to communicate with relevant international bodies and organizations, noting that the visit of the President of the Parliamentary Union to the Kingdom aims to activate parliamentary diplomacy, parliamentary cooperation and the exchange of experiences and knowledge.

She said that the visit of the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is also an opportunity to learn about the democratic and political progress of the Kingdom, as well as the comprehensive development process it is witnessing.

The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union expressed his admiration for the wide achievements made by the Kingdom as a result of His Majesty’s reforms, which made Bahrain a model for coexistence, peace and democracy, according to a reform project based on the constitution and the law.
