Speaker holds meeting with Arab League Secretary General

Cairo, December 23 (BNA) The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, affirmed that Bahraini diplomacy, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, represents the main pillar of Arab action.

He praised the efforts of His Majesty the King to maximize collective Arab interests and support the efforts of the League of Arab States to serve Arab issues and enhance regional and international security, stability and prosperity.

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States praised the leading role of the Kingdom of Bahrain in strengthening international relations and highlighting civilized initiatives within the framework of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty the King.

This came during a meeting between Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, which was held in the presence of the accompanying parliamentary delegation.

The discussions dealt with ways to strengthen relations between the House of Representatives and the League of Arab States.

The two sides also discussed issues of common interest and ways to enhance coordination between the Arab League and parliamentary diplomacy to serve regional and Arab issues.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed the Kingdom’s support for joint Arab action in various issues and challenges, and to achieve the aspirations of Arab countries for greater stability and prosperity.

She expressed the appreciation of His Majesty the King and the Kingdom of Bahrain for the distinguished efforts made by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to advance Arab action.
