SPE-UoB team wins PetroBowl regional qualifiers

Manama, August 9 (BNA) The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher Shaheen Al-Mudhaki, congratulated the team of the Society of Petroleum Engineers – University of Bahrain student branch on their wake. Successfully winning first place in the PetroBowl regional qualification.


The SPE-UoB team led the competition, in which 24 universities across the MENA region competed, to reach the final of the event, which SPE organizes annually.


Dr. Al-Mudhaki said that the University of Bahrain and its colleges support the participation of its students in various events, whether in Bahrain or abroad, adding that they are keen to develop their students’ skills and motivate them to acquire more skills and knowledge.


The Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Sheikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, praised the advanced level demonstrated by the students of the University of Bahrain, superior to their counterparts from the major universities in the Middle East and North Africa, noting that this qualification clearly indicates the level of readiness of students. College of Engineering students for the competition.


The SPE-UoB team, including Noor Khalil Dhaif, Amir Hussain Nasser, Talal Muhammad Al-Khaliqi, Ali Yousef Shukrlig and Anwar Muhammad Al-Subaie, will participate in the PetroBowl Finals, scheduled to be held in Houston, Texas. , in March 2022.


PetroBowl® Competition pits SPE student teams against each other in a series of rapid-fire rounds, answering technical and non-technical questions related to the industry. The competition has grown in size and popularity since its inception in 2002, and in 2015 went global by offering six regional qualification competitions.

Regional qualifying competitions are held in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, South America, the Caribbean, Middle East and North America SPE regions, and the top 32 teams are invited to the PetroBowl® Championship.
