Southern Governor inaugurates historical exhibition

Manama, December 12 (BNA) The Governor of the South, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, inaugurated today the Historic Southern Governorate Exhibition in Wadi Al-Sail Complex, in celebration of the Kingdom’s celebrations of national holidays. On the establishment of the State of Bahrain as an Arab and Islamic state founded by Ahmed Al-Fateh in 1783, and on the occasion of the anniversary of its full membership in the United Nations, and the anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the reins of government.

The exhibition is held as part of a series of national events to celebrate the national occasion. The opening was attended by the Deputy Governor of the South, Brigadier General Issa bin Thamer Al-Dosari, senior officials, dignitaries and citizens.

His Highness the Southern Governor affirmed the governorate’s keenness to revive the original heritage and preserve the customs and traditions inherited from generation to generation.

He pointed to the rich heritage of the southern governorate, noting that the exhibition aims to introduce young people to the governorate’s heritage.

His Highness toured the historical exhibition, which included a set of historical photos of all the towns and regions of the Southern Governorate, as well as the most prominent landmarks, collectibles and handicrafts.

The exhibition also included a special section for the Southern Governorate book published on Riffa between the past and the present, which was inaugurated by His Excellency the Governor of the South in early 2021.

The exhibition also included the screening of a three-dimensional visual documentary on the history of Riffa and its historical landmarks.
