South Korea’s president considering New Year’s address on economy

Seoul, Dec. 25 (BNA): President Yoon Seok-yul is expected to deliver a live New Year’s speech broadcast across the country about his major political plans for the coming year, aides said Sunday.

An official at the Presidential Office said Yoon is positively considering issuing his New Year’s message on January 1. Yonhap reported that a related schedule will likely be set by the president’s weekly meeting with his top aides on Monday.

If the event is held, Yoon is expected to use it to reveal his main policy directions and his vision for 2023, especially ways to deal with growing economic problems and the reform drive in his second year in office.

Yoon pledged reforms to South Korea’s pension, labor and education systems.
