Social Development Minister heads Bahrain delegation in OIC conference

Cairo, June 7 (BNA). Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the second session of the Ministerial Conference for Social Development, which was held under the title “Social Justice and Social Security” in Egypt.


The conference was organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He reviewed the social, cultural and media cooperation between the Member States.


The conference highlighted social, domestic and child labor issues in the community, as well as social security issues for elderly people with disabilities.


The minister stressed that the participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain comes within the framework of the social development mechanism, and the exchange of experiences between member states to achieve societal security.


The conference issued the draft Cairo Declaration, which included recommendations in line with the results of the forty-ninth meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers regarding the protection of marital and domestic values ​​in Islam, and emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation with social development agencies and organizations.


The conference called on member states to comply with the decisions and recommendations of the OIC meetings, support social protection programs and cooperate to face the risks and challenges facing families.
