Manama, November 11 (BNA) The Shura Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee expressed its full support for the statement of Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani regarding the Kingdom’s position. Inalienable historical rights, based on the principle of current possession, and in accordance with Decree-Law No. 8 of 1993 with respect to the territorial sea and the contiguous area of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The committee affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, believes in the importance of adhering to international laws and resolutions, because of their importance in protecting the rights of all international actors.
The Committee also affirmed the Kingdom’s firm commitment to all decisions issued by the institutions of international legitimacy and its full respect for them, in full belief in their integrity and transparency, in light of the legitimate international system and its institutions.
In this regard, the Committee affirmed that the Kingdom reserves its sovereign right to demand a fair and equitable recovery of all its historical rights, within the paths and channels of international legitimacy, as a means to restore its historical and national rights at that time and in the manner it deems appropriate, and in a manner that preserves all its interests and historical, national and sovereign rights without the slightest shortening.
Commenting on the legal report published by the French magazine “Le Point” entitled “Has Qatar robbed Bahrain of billions of cubic meters of gas?” The committee confirmed that the report did not bring anything new in this matter, stressing that Bahrain does not give up its rights and sovereignty over all its land, sea and air borders.
The committee stressed, “It is a question of a national, historical and sovereign right in the first place, and not an issue of wealth or billions of cubic meters of gas.”
In this context, the Shura Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee called on the State of Qatar to respond to Bahrain’s successive calls to enter into bilateral talks, according to the statement of the Gulf Cooperation Council summit in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia.
